CombiSteamer & Steamer care: Cleaning your (combi-)steam oven

A few simple cleaning steps suffice to keep your appliance looking pristine and performing at its best in the long term. Benefit from consistently high-quality results through regular care.

Cleaning and caring for the exterior glass surfaces

To preserve the pristine look of your appliance, clean the exterior glass and display after each use. Take a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent and wipe thoroughly. Then dry with a clean, lint-free cloth for a streak-free shine.

Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh cleaning agents, especially acidic or alkaline products, as they may damage or dull the glass surface. Gentle care keeps your appliance looking like new for years to come.

For added convenience, you can activate the display lock to prevent accidental input while wiping the surface. This ensures safe, uninterrupted cleaning without unintended alterations to your appliance’s settings.

Cleaning and caring for the steamer cavity

Consistent cleaning of the steamer cavity supports long-term performance and keeps the interior looking spotless. A quick wipe after use also helps prevent residue buildup over time. Discover simple tips and routines for effective, everyday care.

Quick daily cleaning

After steaming or baking, allow the steamer to cool down to a warm-to-the-touch temperature. Clear away any condensation and crumbs with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. Then gently wipe the cavity dry.

Light residue removal

For light residue, use the "steam cleaning" function or manually steam at 80 °C for 20 minutes. Remove the shelves to clean the side walls and place them on the bottom of the cavity. Then either dry with a soft cloth or activate hot air at 100 °C for 10 minutes to finish.

Removing stubborn residue

For persistent residue, apply SteamerCleaner and run the “intensive cleaning” programme once the oven has cooled. Follow the display instructions. For non-Excellence Line models, please refer to the instructions included with the SteamerCleaner.

Cleaning the back panel

Spray cleaner onto a soft cloth, then carefully pat the area around the fan. Avoid spraying cleaning agents directly into the cavity behind the fan. This careful method ensures safe and effective back-panel cleaning.

Surface discolouration

A golden hue on the stainless-steel interior is a natural result of use and does not affect performance. If preferred, SteamerCleaner can be used to reduce visible discolouration.

Lemon steam refresh

For a natural way to neutralise lingering smells, place an ovenproof bowl with the juice of two lemons inside the cavity. Fill the bowl halfway with boiling water and steam at 100 °C for 20 minutes. Allow it to cool, then wipe and dry the interior.

Cleaning the shelf guides

The shelf guides can be removed for convenient, thorough cleaning.  Designed to fit only one way, they can be taken out and reinserted effortlessly, without force and without the risk of incorrect placement.

Remove the appliance door for full access

Removing the appliance door allows unrestricted access to areas that are typically hard to reach, for instance, the space between the door and cavity. It also simplifies cleaning inside the door and between the glass panes for a truly thorough clean.

Prepare the area

Before removing the appliance door, place a clean towel on a stable and large enough surface nearby, such as a table or worktop. This protects both your appliance and the surrounding surfaces during handling.

Tool-free removal

To remove the appliance door, start by opening it fully. Flip the small latches on both hinges forward. Then, close the door to the venting position (about 30°). Grip the door firmly with both hands and lift it out smoothly, at an angle.

Careful positioning

Place the door with the handle facing down onto the towel, extending slightly past the edge of the surface. This provides stability and makes the glass panel easy to remove and handle safely.

Descaling your appliance

Regular descaling extends the life of your appliance. Your appliance will notify you when a descaling cycle is due according to the settings of the water hardness selected. Always use Durgol Swiss Steamer and avoid vinegar or lemon juice, as they may cause damage to the internal components. The descaling cycle takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Water type recommendations

Do not use distilled or demineralised water, as these lack the minerals required for proper steam generation and sensor function. If necessary, opt for filtered or softened water instead. For systems using salt-based softeners, descaling is still required at least every two years, even if no reminder appears.
