What inspired the interior design concept for this project?
The project was driven by the desire to merge timeless elegance with joyful energy. We aimed to design an environment where every element has its own character, yet exists in perfect harmony with the others. More than just a functional home, this apartment was conceived to evoke emotion and offer a rich sensory experience.
How did you achieve a harmonious balance of colours and patterns, particularly in such a small kitchen?
We generally favour tone-on-tone colour schemes, allowing us to play with smooth finishes and natural nuances. This layering of materials is a signature of our studio. In this kitchen, the materials interact to create a vibrant dialogue between Rosso Levanto marble, glossy burgundy lacquer, and the deep wall tones. A large linen curtain by Manuel Canovas adds a contrasting touch.
What kind of lifestyle or emotions were you hoping to convey through this apartment – and the kitchen in particular?
Through this apartment, and especially the kitchen, we wanted to express a lifestyle where elegance blends with simplicity and conviviality. Our goal was to create a space that inspires well-being, creativity, and calm, while also encouraging moments of togetherness. The kitchen, as the heart of the home, is where people can relax, connect, and enjoy shared experiences.
What do you consider the essential functions of a kitchen, and how do you integrate them into your design approach?
The essentials are practicality, flow, and ergonomics. A kitchen should simplify daily life while remaining a pleasant space to spend time – whether cooking, entertaining, or simply being together.
